I’m Jess Thomas, community manager, and I’ve been working for The Root for 4 years—I was actually the first full-time employee. I met the owner, Ben, through my previous job at an advertising agency with his wife; we hit it off at the holiday party and the rest is history! In the last year, we opened our second location, Market Station, and I took that off the ground and have been running it since, building the community, and making sure everyone who walks through our doors has the best experience possible. I’m a born and raised Tulsan with all the hometown recommendations for food, fun, and festivities! Cultivating the community here at The Root is my absolute favorite—when I connect two members with common interests, I do a lil’ happy dance. I graduated from Oklahoma State University (go Pokes!) with marketing and sports management degrees. I’m also a founding board member and the director of communications for a local mental health non-profit called Together Just, providing free and low-cost therapy to kids and teens. On the weekends, you can catch me at the newest restaurant, reading the latest thriller book, playing pickleball, or lounging around watching the scariest horror movies with my dog, Navy.
